Jamie Foxx experienced a profound moment of emotion at the Critics Choice Association Awards Celebration of Cinema & Television, where he was honored for Black, Latino, and AAPI achievements. The 55-year-old Oscar winner was visibly moved as he accepted the Vanguard award from Jurnee Smollett, his co-star in “The Burial,” marking his first public appearance since a mysterious “medical complication” in April.

Amidst a heartfelt standing ovation from the audience, Foxx opened up about the health crisis he faced earlier in the year. Reflecting on his journey, he revealed, “You know, it’s crazy, I couldn’t do that six months ago — I couldn’t actually walk.” Overcome with emotion, he paused during his 12-minute speech and addressed speculations about his health, humorously stating, “I’m not a clone, I’m not a clone. I know a lot of people who were saying I was cloned out there.”

Expressing gratitude for the support he received, Foxx shared insights into his newfound perspective on life and art. “I cherish every single minute now — it’s different. I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy because it’s tough when it’s almost over … when you see the tunnel. I saw the tunnel — I didn’t see the light.”

Highlighting the importance of resilience, Foxx encouraged others not to give up on their artistic pursuits. “I have a new respect for life. I have a new respect for my art. I watched so many movies and listened to so many songs, trying to let the time go by. Don’t give up on your art, man; don’t give up,” he added.

Foxx had previously touched on his health struggles in July, expressing gratitude for the support of his sister and daughter, who played a crucial role in his recovery. In an Instagram post, he acknowledged the challenges he faced, emphasizing that he didn’t want his fans to see him in a vulnerable state but preferred to share moments of joy and laughter.

While details about the specific cause of Foxx’s hospitalization remain undisclosed by those close to him, his daughter Corinne had mentioned in April that he fell ill during the production of his upcoming movie, “Back in Action.” Despite the challenges, Foxx took to Instagram in May to express his gratitude for the overwhelming love and blessings he received from his fans.
