Grenadian Police revealed on Monday that two Americans, who had gone missing amidst a daring escape orchestrated by three prisoners earlier in the month, are now presumed dead, likely disposed of in the waters.
The trio of escapees, consisting of Ron Mitchell (30), Trevon Robertson (19), and Abita Stanislaus (25), had managed to flee from the confines of the South St. George police station, where they were detained on charges of violent robbery. Mitchell also faced allegations of rape.
Authorities suspect that following their recapture last Wednesday, the fugitives commandeered a yacht named “Simplicity,” resulting in the tragic demise of the American couple, Ralph Hendry (66) and Kathy Brandel (71).

“The investigation thus far indicates that after the suspects or the escapes escaped, they hijacked a yacht named ‘Simplicity’ that was moored at Grand Anne’s beach in Grenada and kidnapped the couple,” stated Junior Simmons, spokesperson for the Royal Saint Vincent and Grenadines Police Force. “The investigation further reveals that when sailing from Grenada, the suspects committed several criminal acts, including bodily harm to the couple.”
Despite the absence of physical remains, evidence of violence was uncovered aboard the vessel. Simmons elaborated, “The scene was processed and found to be consistent with signs of violence. Several items were strewn on the deck and in the cabin a red substance that resembled blood was seen on board. There was no discovery of bodies on board the yacht.”
Simmons continued, “It is presumed that Ralph Hendry and Kathy Randel are deceased.” The suspects are reportedly cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Don McKenzie, Commissioner of the Royal Grenada Police Force, added, “Information suggests that while traveling between Grenada and St. Vincent, they disposed of the occupants.”
