Alabama Sen.-elect Katie Britt recently appeared on ‘Fox & Friends’ to reflect on her historic campaign before heading to Washington, D.C., for orientation.
The 42-year-old Republican has also accepted the responsibility of delivering the GOP response to President Biden’s State of the Union address on Thursday, stating she is “truly honored and grateful for the opportunity.”
Britt’s focus for her response will be on highlighting the importance of hardworking parents and families within the Republican Party. She is one of the youngest members of the Senate, having been elected during the 2022 midterms.

Upon her swearing-in, Britt made history as Alabama’s first elected female senator and the youngest Republican woman to serve in the upper chamber.
A graduate of the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama School of Law, Britt practiced law before entering politics. She and her husband are raising their two children, Bennett and Ridgeway, in Montgomery. In the Senate, Britt serves as the ranking member of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee.
Republican strategists Doug Heye and John Feehery praised Britt’s selection for the response, citing her intelligence, eloquence, and relatability as a mother of two school-aged children.
Feehery emphasized that Britt’s profile offers a contrast to the typical image of a Republican spokesperson, often portrayed by white males.
On the other hand, Democratic strategist Max Burns suggested that top-tier Republicans may have turned down the opportunity, leading to Britt’s selection.
Burns pointed to what he sees as a lack of progress on Republican priorities in Congress, suggesting that senior Republicans may have been reluctant to sell this perceived ineffectiveness to voters.
Britt’s upcoming response to President Biden’s address will provide a platform for her to articulate the Republican Party’s vision, particularly regarding issues important to American families.
