Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is facing two challengers in her re-election campaign, including a Republican who has previously denied the election outcome.

Courtney Kramer, who identifies as a “MAGA attorney” on Instagram, announced her candidacy as a Republican, joining Willis and Democratic challenger Christian Wise Smith in the race. CBS News reported that the top two candidates from the jungle primary would advance to the general election.

Kramer criticized Willis, stating, “As a lawyer myself, it’s disgusting to see her not follow her rules of professional conduct or take her oath of office seriously.” Kramer, who interned at the Office of White House Counsel during the Trump administration, described Willis’s conduct as a “disgrace to the legal community.”

A Fulton County judge, Scott McAfee, is currently reviewing whether to remove Willis from the criminal case against former President Donald Trump.

Trump and 18 co-defendants were indicted in the Georgia election subversion case, which has already resulted in four guilty pleas. The review concerns Willis’s personal relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

Kramer was actively involved in the Georgia election challenge, assisting in assembling interviews and affidavits before a Dec. 4, 2020, election challenge filed by Trump allies.

This involvement was detailed in Republican lawyer Cleta Mitchell’s testimony to the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection.

According to Widener Law Commonwealth professor Quinn Yeargain, who attended law school with Kramer, she played an active role in Trump’s efforts to overturn his Georgia election loss.

Yeargain claimed that Kramer documented her involvement in real-time on Instagram, sharing a screenshot of her in a room where fake electors allegedly met. However, the photo’s quality was insufficient to verify Kramer’s presence.

Three of the Trump electors who submitted false paperwork – David Shafer, Shawn Still, and Cathy Latham – were charged alongside the former president in Willis’s investigation. The outcome of the election challenge and Willis’s handling of the case against Trump are expected to be key issues in the upcoming election.
