During an illegal party described as a “rave-type” event in southwest San Antonio, Texas, a woman was killed, and a man was injured in a shooting.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar revealed that deputies responded to a call about the shooting around 4 a.m. on March 9, which took place inside a former Knights of Columbus hall. The building was not legally occupied and had water and electricity that were illegally connected.

The party had been advertised on social media, drawing a large crowd. Witnesses reported that a dispute occurred between two or more groups, leading to gunfire. A 21-year-old woman was fatally shot at the scene, while a 29-year-old man sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital.

Sheriff Salazar expressed concern about the callous behavior of witnesses, stating that individuals recorded the dying woman instead of providing assistance. He described it as “cold-blooded and disturbing.”

Despite the apparent number of attendees at the party, only about 20 witnesses remained when deputies arrived, and they have been uncooperative with investigators.

Salazar called on additional witnesses to come forward and share information or video footage from the event. The authorities are uncertain about the number of shooters involved, suggesting the possibility of multiple individuals.

Although one man was taken into custody when he returned to the scene to look for a cell phone, there is currently no indication of his involvement in the shooting. His pants, potentially containing blood, were seized as evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
