The final episode of “The Hairy Bikers” aired recently, marking the end of an era for the popular show. However, it was a bittersweet moment as it came after the passing of one of its stars, Dave Myers, earlier in the month.

Dave Myers, aged 66, passed away in February after a nearly two-year battle with cancer. His co-star, Si King, announced his death, revealing that he was with Myers when he passed.

Despite Myers’ illness, the final episode had already been filmed, capturing moments of camaraderie and culinary passion that defined the series.

The BBC decided to air the remaining episodes as a tribute to Myers, as the show had begun airing before his passing. In the last episode, titled “The Hairy Bikers Go West,” Myers and King embarked on a journey down the west coast of the UK, cooking up a poached John Dory together.

Reflecting on his journey during filming, Myers shared, “I’ve had chemotherapy all the time we’ve been filming. It hasn’t been easy, but we’ve got there. And it’s just a wonderful feeling.” Despite the challenges, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be present in the moment.

In a touching moment, King praised Myers for his resilience and hard work, acknowledging the significance of their journey together. The episode concluded with an emotional embrace between the two cooks, followed by a tribute to Myers after the credits.

In the final episode, they said, “We’ve been on the road now for nearly 20 years, and we’ve always found camaraderie and friendship around the table.” This statement encapsulated the spirit of their culinary adventures.
