Officials from the United Kingdom and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay met in London for their second Trade Dialogue meeting. The purpose of the dialogue is to improve trade and investments, promote sustainable development, and share knowledge and experiences. At the meeting, officials discussed the progress they’ve made since the last meeting.

Both countries discussed new investments, more trading, and successful cooperation, especially on Patents and Intellectual Property. They also discussed ways to make it easier to trade goods and services safely and openly, according to the UK Government‘s website.

The groups were happy about signing a Memorandum of Understanding to make movies and shows together. They also promised to make a plan about health, following an agreement signed in March 2024.

Additionally, they signed a deal called the Patent Prosecution Highway Memorandum of Understanding. This lets companies speed up their patent applications if another intellectual property office has already checked them.
