James Fanell, a government fellow at the Global Fellowship Initiative, and Bradley Thayer, a senior fellow at the Center for Security Policy. According to Bradley Thayer, the United States has committed a historic anomaly by financially fueling the ascent of its adversary. “Never in history has one country funded the rise of its enemy, which is what the United States has done,” he emphasized.
James Fanell underscores the gravity of the situation, framing it as an existential threat posed by the CCP’s ambition to dismantle the United States. “The Chinese Communist Party is seeking to, essentially, destroy the United States, which they believe is the one country that can stand in their way of achieving this great rejuvenation of China,” he asserted.

As noted by Fanell, the Chinese Communist Party’s pernicious influence pervades various domains. “Across the board, you can pick a topic, and you can see the pernicious influence of the Chinese Communist Party,” he affirmed.
Thayer parallels the Cold War era, characterizing the current state as a period of heightened security competition that demands resolution. “We’re in this ‘Cold War’ situation, this period of intense security competition, that we must now resolve,” he remarked, underscoring the situation’s urgency.
