Rep. Beth Van Duyne, a Texas Republican, appeared on Newsmax’s “Saturday Report” and criticized the Biden administration for acknowledging the crisis at the U.S. southern border only to shift the blame onto House Republicans.

Van Duyne emphasized that the problem has escalated to record numbers of border crossings under Biden’s tenure and accused the administration of initially denying the issue’s severity.

She highlighted a bill passed by House Republicans, which has been stalled in the Senate for over a year, arguing that it contains effective solutions from the Trump era, such as constructing a wall and deporting criminals present in the country illegally.

Van Duyne criticized the Biden administration’s policies, including the catch and release program and the CBP One app, which she believes exacerbate the situation by allowing easy entry into the U.S. She took issue with a parole program she claims enables criminals to enter and remain in the country.

The congresswoman pointed out the inertia of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in advancing the bill and the administration’s denial of its passage, questioning when the administration will recognize the problem and act on the available solutions.

Van Duyne argued that President Biden’s executive actions have compromised border security and suggested that reversing these orders could protect the border effectively.

She also linked the administration’s border policy to broader political strategies, accusing Democrats of seeking to increase their voter base through immigration besides demographic shifts that have seen people moving from traditionally blue states to Republican-leaning states like Texas and Florida.

According to Van Duyne, this migration is driven by the public’s reaction to Democratic policies perceived as harmful to safety, fiscal responsibility, and the economy.

In concluding remarks, Van Duyne accused the Democrats of prioritizing power over public welfare and urged the public to listen closely to Democrats’ statements to confirm these priorities.
