Melania Trump Reveals Barron’s Decision to Forego RNC Delegate Role

On Wednesday, the Florida Republican Party revealed its selection of delegates for the forthcoming presidential nomination. Among the chosen delegates was an unexpected name: Barron Trump, the 18-year-old son of former President Donald Trump.

Responding to the news, Donald Trump expressed his support, stating he was “all for it” regarding his son’s potential involvement in the political arena.

However, the former First Lady Melania Trump seems to have put a damper on the idea. A spokeswoman for Mrs. Trump conveyed that while Barron was honored by the selection, he won’t participate due to prior commitments, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Whether Barron will even attend the convention in July remains uncertain, as he’s set to graduate from high school next week. Meanwhile, other Trump family members, including Donald Jr., Eric, and Tiffany, are slated to serve as delegates for Florida, where the family now resides and votes.

Absent from the confirmed participants are Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, who have stated they won’t be involved in the re-election campaign. Melania Trump, too, hasn’t confirmed her participation, despite occasional appearances at political events at Mar-a-Lago, the Trumps’ Florida residence.

Throughout Donald Trump’s presidency, Barron remained mostly out of the public eye, attending a private school in Maryland. His mother, Melania, was known to fiercely guard his privacy, pushing back against criticisms and comments about her son.

This recent development marks Barron’s first step into the political sphere. As a delegate, he would have stood alongside other Florida representatives in nominating his father for the presidential candidacy during the convention.

Donald Trump expressed joy at his son’s potential involvement, describing him as “very cute” and hinting at Barron’s interest in politics, though he inadvertently stated Barron’s age as 17 instead of 18.

Despite Donald Trump’s ongoing legal battles, including his current trial in New York, where he faces charges of falsifying business records, the court has granted him permission to attend Barron’s graduation.
