Tusk underscored the importance of investing in safety, particularly along the eastern border, allocating around 10 billion zlotys ($2.5 billion) for this critical endeavor.

This decision reflects Poland’s dedication to fortifying its borders and deterring potential threats, aligning with broader efforts to bolster collective defense within NATO.

The Shield-East initiative encompasses a comprehensive approach, encompassing the construction of robust military defenses and strategic environmental measures aimed at rendering the border impregnable to any potential adversary.

Tusk emphasized that these efforts are not merely defensive but also proactive, aimed at ensuring Poland’s security during times of peace and resilience against any aggression during times of conflict.

Addressing Polish troops in Krakow to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Monte Cassino, Tusk reaffirmed Poland’s commitment to honoring its historical legacy while actively preparing for contemporary security challenges.

This commitment includes reinforcing existing border infrastructure, building upon previous measures implemented by Poland’s right-wing government, and adapting to evolving security dynamics.

Poland’s steadfast support for Ukraine in its defensive war against Russia’s invasion underscores its commitment to regional stability and solidarity within the broader European context.

By investing in border security and actively participating in regional defense initiatives, Poland reaffirms its role as a key contributor to collective security efforts in the region.
