The Challenge is an MTV reality TV show that first premiered on June 1, 1998. It has 38 seasons and a Runtime of about 90 minutes. It is a spin-off of shows from The Real World and Road rules. As the 38 seasons premiered on October 12, 2022, with the title The Challenge: Ride or Dies, the fans are still confused about the sudden leaving of Ashley Mitchell from the previous season.
The Challenge: Spies, Lies, and Allies. Ashely Mitchell first joined the reality show in 2016 during Rivals III. Ever since then, she has become a formidable member of the tv show, proving herself a fan favorite.
She was the winner of Invasion of the Champion and Final Reckoning, and she also was the finalist of War of the Worlds 2. Her sudden departure for sure cost some confusion among the viewers. We are here to explain the reason which caused her abrupt departure from the show.
What Happened to Ashley Mitchell from The Challenge?
The show host TJ Lavin said that she was disqualified from the show. To quote his words, “Ashley has broken one of the rules. Because of that, Ashley is no longer able to stay in the game” As you can see, he gave no further explanation to this situation, nor did he open up about the thing she did to make her disqualified.
This was a discreet way of putting things out, and he never gave away anything, causing curiosity among the fans. Of course, he should be careful about saying regarding this matter; anything wrong coming out of his mouth could cause other legal complications. But fans were curious about the rule she broke. Mitchell is a longtime member of this show, and for her to leave, there must be something serious.
Ashley later took it to Twitter and issued a formal apology by tweeting, “Rules are rules, and I respect @mtv and TJs call. The best apology is to change behavior. See you next time @Challenge” She did not elaborate further but issued another statement saying that she will be working on her “Anger management.” She was also very secretive about the issue at hand and did not reveal the cause of this sudden decision.
As to why she was disqualified, it was later revealed that she misbehaved with one of her castmates. Though no official statement came from Ashley or MTV regarding this issue, it was revealed that during a heated argument with castmate Josh, she outed him by saying that he was gay. This caused tension among the castmate, causing them to report it to the production.
What Rule Did Ashley Mitchell Break to get her Disqualified?
One of the main rules in the TV show Challenge is that no players can put their hands on each other, or else they will be sent home. In theory, Ashely did not cause any physical injuries, but her behavior caused grievous mental harm to Josh.
His sexual orientation was never revealed before, it is his personal choice to come out, and the decision has to be made by him and him alone. This unexpected situation brought him into the limelight, exposing his sexuality when he was not ready. This caused fans to storm at her for her irrational behavior.
It was later revealed that Ashley was intoxicated during the time of this argument. Whether intentional or not, her behavior was against the rule, and hence she was removed from the show. She has been a part of this show for almost six years, and her sudden dismissal is a loss, but rules are rules, let us hope she manages her behavior as she told, and maybe she can come back to the show.
Season 38 is the first season after this drama. This show features alumni from various other reality shows who are competing for a share at a $1 million prize. The show host TJ Lavin is excited to launch this new season that is shot in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
