Jin and Ah Yuan have developed romantic feelings for each other. They do help Yaoyao for the villagers. We knew from the previous episode that Ah Yuan ran away not to get married as a trade for food. There is a common notion of thinking the villagers might persuade them so that they can trade her for the food.
One can not ignore the romantic and emotional attachments between Ah Yuan and Jin. He becomes the first person to protect her from the unforeseen events that came to the surface and the events that might come ahead in the future.
