With Demon Slayer entertainment district arc having ended. The anime was so good such that it generated more popularity for the already ended manga as well. The anime producers did not waste any time, and right after that, they announced the adaptation of the wordsmith village arc. It will be the third season of demon slayer and will see the aftermath of the destruction of the entertainment district and what will follow for Tanjiro and his team. The entertainment district was so harsh on the young demon slayers even though they had a strong hashira guiding them.
The anime opened with interesting scenes from the Demon Slayer Infinite Train arc. But things were on the low when Rengoku was killed despite how things went at the time. Then this was a wake-up call for Tanjiro and his team for the upcoming entertainment district arc action. We are used to the fact that the protagonists always win. And recently, the anime is putting this to the test with things getting more and more difficult, even for the Hashiras. So when Rengoku was defeated, we all thought that the sound hashira would be way stronger and would settle things easier.

In the anime and manga, Giyu appears like a tall young man with muscular stature and is pale in complexion. He always has a serious and emotionless expression. As a Kakushi, he still wears the same uniform, fully black, and covers most of his face. He played a pivotal role when he discovered a fatally injured Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Tanjiro in the aftermath of the entertainment district arc. This made him develop a lot of respect for them due to their capabilities and bravery.
Kagaya Ubuyashiki 23
As the 97th leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, Kagaya appears to be too young for his role. But he has fulfilled it and managed to accomplish what has taken over a millennium to achieve. He led the demon slayers corps to corner and defeated Muzan even though he was no longer present at the final moments.
Most demon slayers refer to him as master, and he also serves as the head of the Ubuyashiki family. Interestingly, Kagaya became the leader of the demon slayer corps when he was only four years old. And when he was 13, he met Amane, who was 17 years at the time. A certain priest had selected her to become Kagaya’s wife to care for his medical needs. But Kagaya only wanted this to happen if Amane was okay with it.
Tengen Uzui 23
The last Hashira to appear in the anime as we saw his capabilities during the Entertainment district arc. Tengen Uzui seemed to have mastered his skills and was a capable Hashira as he managed to survive the harshest fight we have seen in the anime. Demons always have the upper hand because they regenerate while the demon’s slayers keep the damage in the fight.
And each and every upper-rank demon has unique abilities, so the Hashira goes into a fight without knowing anything about their abilities. And by the time they figure out a way to defeat them, then they are already too late, and things would end up in their defeat, just like we saw when demon slayers as powerful as the Hashira are easily defeated.
Gyomei Himejima 27 Years
Gyomei appears as the largest in body size amongst the Hashira, and this fits his title as the Stone Hashira. He is also one of the tallest characters in the entire series and easily stands way above the rest of the Hashira. He has a powerfully built stature with a muscular body with a prominent scar that runs across his forehead.
Gyomei is amongst the older demon slayers, and Hashira, as most of them, are still of a young age. Most demon slayers and Hashiras are in their early twenties, while Gyomei is in his late twenties so he is quite knowledgeable and experienced due to his older age with respect to his fellow Hashira.

Hantengu 113+ Years
Looking into the ages of the demons, they live more years compared to humans as they can easily live over a hundred years old. The oldest demon slayer to be known lived for around eighty years at his best. And at that, his skills have dwindled to a point were he was finally defeated in battle.
But for the demons, we have seen that they have been in existence for millenniums and have killed several demon slayers. It is surprising how easily demons managed to kill Hashiras, but to Muzan, this was nothing surprising. So this will go to show that the generation of the Hashira that managed to defeat Muzan was really exceptional and was a once in a millennium occurrence.
Doma 133+ Years
As the second upper-rank demon, Doma is amongst the most powerful of the upper-rank demons, only one place below Michikatsu. And with over a hundred years of experience then, this makes him more formidable. With demons, age doesn’t really mean that they are more powerful, but it is how much of Muzan’s blood they can take that determines their overall powers.
Doma used to hold the position of upper rank six about a century ago. So this means that he recently got the upper rank two spot, and this might be due to the role he played in recruiting Daki and Gyutaro. Doma also has his personal cult that worships him in return for his advice. He also uses it as his place to capture and kill humans.
Akaza 300+ Years
Most demons and their background stories date back to over a century ago. Akaza was also a martial artist before he became a demon, and this took place around a century before the storyline of the name and manga could begin. It is his desire to become stronger that has enabled him to live this long as he finally accepted the offer to become a demon. He believes that the skill she had as a human should be preserved and would usually recruit strong warriors to become demons.
Akaza had a sad past as a young boy growing up. His father was always sick, and has he had no money; he would usually resort to crime so that he could provide medicine for him. And even if he were usually caught and punished for this, he would not stop, and when he heard that, he could become a demon. Then this was a good opportunity for him as he would live forever.
Tamayo 400+ Years
Tamayo is one of the rarest demons you could come across. We have also seen exceptional cases like Nezuko, who were unaffected by sunlight. And in Tamayo’s case, she is a demon whom not even Muzan could control. She is capable of creating more demons by herself, and they would not be affected by Muzan or his powers. But in the end, she was an exceptional demon slayer despite being a demon herself.
She used to be Muzan’s aide several hundreds of years ago. Just like most characters in the story, Muzan once killed her family in the past, and she has been looking for a way to avenge them. In the end, she managed to play a pivotal role and created a drug that helped defeat Muzan and turn Tanjiro back into a human after he was affected by Muzan’s blood.
Kokushibo 450+ Years
On the pinnacle of the demon world, we have Kokushibo right before Muzan himself. All the demons in the anime and manga are somehow created by Muzan as he is the progenitor himself. And amongst those he created. There is no other demon that ranks higher than Kokushibo in every aspect there is. Looking at his past, Kokushibo was once a demon slayer who has invented his own Moon breathing techniques.

All the breathing techniques in the story are derived from the Sun breathing technique that Yochiiro, Kokushibo’s twin brother, created several hundred years ago. And as his counterpart, Kokushibo combines his own breathing techniques with his demon powers, and this has enabled him to hone his skills for more than 450 years that he has lived.
Muzan 1000+ Years
Muzan was the very first demon as he was born frail and with a curse that would not see him live over 20 years of age. And due to his fear of death. He went around looking for a way that could cure his illnesses, and when he finally came across a cure that worked, it ended up turning him into a demon as a side effect. His weaknesses only remained to be direct sunlight, so this would leave him fully operational only during the night.
In his search for the Spider Lilly flower that would give him immunity to the sunlight. He created his own demons that would aid him in the search for immortality. This developed from Muzan’s fear of death, and when he finally found ways to live longer, he never wanted to die. Then we have the entire storyline that the demons slayers and the demons have fought for over a thousand years until Muzan was finally defeated, bringing the entire series to an end.

There are so many interesting facts about these characters that have appeared to be amongst the oldest in the manga and the anime. Most interestingly, most of these facts and trivia remain unknown to most fans, especially those who strictly follow the anime, since there is still a lot they are yet to know. Muzan Kibutsuji
As the progenitor of the demons, Muzan was born and became a demon in the early 900s during the Heian Period, and this explains why he has lived over a millennium.
Due to his demeanor, immorality, and abusive manner. Muzan used to have five wives who ended up committing suicide. His treatment was so cruel and harsh such that they would end up mentally disturbed.
The Ubuyashiki family that Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the leader of the demon slayer corps in the anime. Is the descendants of Muzan’s original blood relatives. The family was cursed with an unknown incurable and untreatable genetic disease that would kill their family member before turning 30 years.
