High School DxD was a Japanese light novel series written by Ichiei Ishibumi and illustrated by Miyama Zero. Due to their popularity, the novels were adapted to a manga series. A total of twenty-five manga volumes are available till March 2018 under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint. The manga was then used to develop an anime show. The anime first aired back on January 6, 2012. And over the years, it had four seasons come out with amazing responses. The anime has always been a part of the controversy due to its enticing plots and brilliant shots, constructed by Director Yoshifumi Sueda. Here, We will talk about High School DxD Season 5, but first, let me tell you some more about High School DxD.
High School DxD Setting
High School DxD is a story revolving around one “Issei Hyodo” who has enrolled in Kuoh Academy. Only now converted to a co-ed educational institution, the school is filled with girls. Being a perverted schoolboy, Issei’s dream is to have his own harem. And soon after, he falls in love with gorgeous Yuuma Amano. On his first date, things take a drastic turn when she kills him. He is soon after rescued by Rias Gremory, the female protagonist. Rias is a devil who saves him for her own devilish intent asks him to be her slave. In his rebirth, he is subjected to work for the school club. That’s when it is revealed that the school is possessed by angels and devils. And Yuuma Amano herself was a fallen angel.
After being reborn as a devil and joining the Occult Research Club, Issei starts to adapt to his new life. He does this by altering his humanity switch and by exercising devilish practices. In order to prevail in this devil vs. angel world, Issei starts his journey to harbor his newfound powers.

Season 5: Is it coming?
High School DxD premiered its season 4 back on April 10, 2018. This went on for a total of 12 episodes wrapping up by July 3, 2018. Soon after season four had been released, it was confirmed that the series would be renewed for a fifth season.
This season was supposed to be released in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were delays in production. And now, most likely, the fifth season of the show is expected to be released sometime in 2021. You can catch up on all the episodes of High School DxD on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Funimation.
According to the director, the current studio had fluctuated the work straying far away from the manga. Therefore, there was a need for an upgrade. High School DxD Season 5 is to be overtaken by Passione Studio.
Season 5: What will happen?
The anime has always adapted the story from the light novels. Season 4 of the anime adapted volumes 9 and 10. Therefore we can expect that season 5 will adapt 2 volumes as well – 11 and 12. If that is the case, the upcoming season should start off with the Middle-Class Promotion Test. While Issei, Akeno, and Kiba prepare for the test, Koneko starts being doubtful. She even comes to know about Issei and Rias’ closeness and is not quite happy with their development. On the other hand, at Hyodou’s residence, Azazel will reach out to Ophis and the Khaos leader.
