We’re all aware of the interesting plot, the American Musical Comedy-Drama titled ‘Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist’ revolves around. Created by Austin Winsberg, the show made its debut in the television industry in January 2020 and is currently airing its second season. The show features Jane Levy as Zoey Clarke. Based in San Francisco, Zoey is a smart computer coder by profession, but amidst her normal routine, life takes an unusual turn for her. The technical geek who used to prefer podcasts over songs soon begins to hear people’s inner thoughts and feelings and everything that crosses their minds in the forms of songs and music.
At first, she begins to question her mental sanity, but soon after her neighbor Mo guides her, the fact that she can hear people’s inner desires stops bothering her. When the newly acquired superpowers enable her to detect her father’s illness in advance, she feels that the power she thought was a curse might actually turn out to be a boon for her and the world. It might help her connect better with the world and the people around her.
As the show progresses, we saw Zoey going through a lot in her professional and personal life. She is trapped both mentally and emotionally. She gets promoted to a better position, loses her father to death, has to make a decision for her love life, all in continuous intervals. It gets hard for her to cope up with life, feelings, misery, and pain all at the same time.
The second season premiered its first episode on 5 January 2021 and has so far delivered 3 episodes, with the fourth one scheduled to air on 26 January 2021. In the third episode of the season, we witness the newbie couple putting a break on their newly blooming relationship after Zoey’s nightmares started affecting her deeply and made her distant from Max. Instead of letting Max be aware of the problem she is going through, Zoey opens up to Simon about it while Max keeps pleading with her to share her problems because he thinks she is feeling lost lately.

Zoey eventually opens up and admits to Max that she hasn’t been feeling alright for a couple of days, and it will not be fair for him to be present with her while she is willing to maintain a distance from him. So the couple mutually agrees to put their relationship on hold for quite a while since Zoey might need more time to process the loss of her father and overcome the pain that has been hurting her on the inside. Zoey has a very special place for Max in her heart, but right at the present moment, she isn’t ready to let anybody enter her life and occupy any space. She is lost in deep grief, and before she commits herself to somebody else, she needs to learn and understand her emotions herself.
The couple is were living together at Maggie’s apartment, but soon after they talk and decide to split for a while, we see Zoey returning back home. Zoey, being crushed between her emotional crisis and the haunting nightmares, feels that Max’s love is trapping her. She feels caged and thinks that both of them hushed themselves into this relationship, and she might need more to commit to a man if she wants the relationship between them to work like a grown-up couple. Zoey approaching Simon might fuel the love triangle that was left behind in the initial season and might also ignite some fierce segments between Simon and Max. The show will air the fourth episode of its current season on 26 January 2021 on NBC.
