Alyson Levy and Alissa Nutting developed the adult animated comedy television series Teenage Euthanasia, The series features the likes of  Maria Bamford, Jo Firestone, Tim Robinson, and Bebe Neuwirth. Teenage Euthanasia is set in a near-future inland Florida and revolves around the Fantasy Family, the owners of Tender Endings Funeral Home: Grandma Baba, her adult children Uncle Pete and Trophy, and Trophy’s teenage daughter, Euthanasia (“Annie”), a name given to her by accident during Trophy’s own unbearable suffering.

The platform bringing this series is Adult Swim (AdultSwim.com),  which is WarnerMedia’s #1 brand for young adults, debuted in 2001 and offers original and acquired animated and live-action shows. Adult Swim is basic cable’s #1 network among individuals 18-34 and 18-49, airing weekly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. (ET/PT) on its linear channel and also available through HBO Max, and is watched in 94 million U.S. households, with HBO Max reaching over 40 million viewers.

Teenage Euthanasia Release Date

Teenage Euthanasia, an animated comedy series produced by AT&T’s Adult Swim cable channel, will launch on September 19, 2021. Teenage Euthanasia is set in inland Florida in the near future and revolves around the Fantasy Family, the operators of Tender Endings crematorium. Grandma Baba, her adult children Uncle Pete and Trophy, and Trophy’s adolescent daughter, Euthanasia (Annie), a name given to her by mistake amid Trophy’s awful agony. Trophy fled away from home after giving birth to Annie when she was a teen, leaving her infant to be raised by Baba and Uncle Pete.

The trophy comes to Tender Endings 15 years later…as a corpse, to be buried. Trophy returns from the dead when a bolt of lightning strikes Baba’s homemade embalming fluid and one of Annie’s tears. Trophy possesses a number of semi-useful death powers as a resurrected lady. But, more significantly, she now gets a second shot at becoming an unplanned parent.

Trophy Fantasy (voiced by Maria Bamford), her adolescent daughter Euthanasia “Annie” Fantasy (played by Jo Firestone), Annie’s Oedipus-complex-afflicted Uncle Pete (voiced by Tim Robinson), and Annie’s “old country” immigrant grandma Baba are among the ensemble of characters (voiced by Bebe Neuwirth).

When Alissa and Alyson first made the announcement  of Teenage Euthanasia in December of last year, Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim, said, “With Teenage Euthanasia, Alissa and Alyson have created both a world and a family that everyone can relate to, laugh at, and ultimately feel relieved that they aren’t a part of.” The cast and crew recently took part in a virtual panel at San Diego Comic-Con, which was chaired by Adult Swim regular Tim Heidecker.

Alissa Nutting is an essayist, novelist, and screenwriter. She’s also a co-creator of the new HBO Max series Made for Love, which is based on her highly acclaimed novel of the same name.

Alyson Levy is a co-creator of Xavier: Renegade Angel and The Heart, She Hollers alongside John Lee and Vernon Chatman, as well as a member of PFFR, which produced Wonder Showzen, Delocated, Neon Joe Werewolf Hunter, and The Shivering Truth.

Alissa Nutting, a New York Times Editor’s Choice writer (“Made for Love” on HBO Max), and Emmy-nominated producer Alyson Levy co-created the half-hour animated series. PFFR produced “Teenage Euthanasia,” which was animated by Augenblick Studios. Lisa M. Thomas, Vernon Chatman, and John Lee serve as executive producers, with Scott Adsit serving as co-executive producers.
