Before he passed away, Carpenter resided at Stowe, Vermont.  He was married to Donna Carpenter, who lived with him, and so did his son Timi. The couple had two more children together, two sons of the name George and Taylor. Corporal George Carpenter, Jake’s brother, died in Vietnam on February 17, 1967. Following the passing of his brother, Jake’s mother died of leukemia four years later. This left only Jake, his father, and his two sisters. A 1982 New Year’s Eve party is where Burton meets his future wife, Donna Gaston. They wed in Greenwich, Connecticut, just over a year later.

In the year 1985, Jake along with Donna, shifted to Austria.
